East Austin
Brooklyn is to New York what the eastside is to Austin. Before 2011 most people did not venture east of I-35 because of the high crime rate. There are many neighborhoods that make up East Austin. Holly, Cesar Chavez, Rosewood, Cherrywood and Chestnut, for example, each have their own culture and real estate prices. Overall, East Austin is vibrant and always evolving. The “Eastside” is the new, hip area for those wanting casual backyard bars, breweries, trendy restaurants and “authentic” taco cuisine. Buyers are attracted to the artsy vibe and affordable real estate prices compared to other central neighborhoods like 78704 and 78703. East Austin real estate continues to see appreciation due to new developments like Plaza Saltillo and Dell Medical School.
