Onion Creek

Hero image

Onion Creek is a South Austin suburban neighborhood with a mix of older homes from the 1970s-1990s. Home prices range from the $300s to $500s and rarely turnover, thus inventory remains tight. Most of the homes haven’t been updated so buyers can expect remodeling costs. Lot sizes are usually .20-.30 acres with views and mature trees. Adjacent subdivisions (although collectively referred to as Onion Creek) are mostly master-planned communities and have a lower price point averaging in the $200s. It's important to acknowledge that in the past decade, Onion Creek experienced significant flooding issues. However, the neighborhood took a major step forward in March 2017 when the city approved the rezoning of 700 acres to create the expansive Onion Creek Metropolitan Park and Onion Creek Greenbelt, doubling the size of Zilker Park. Residents of Onion Creek can also enjoy the amenities offered by the Onion Creek Country Club and the convenience of Southpark Meadows Shopping Center. Additionally, the neighborhood's strategic location places the airport, McKinney Falls State Park, and downtown Austin, all within a comfortable 10-mile commute.
