Onion Creek is a South Austin suburban neighborhood with a mix of older homes from the 1970s-1990s. Home prices ranging from the $300s to $500s and rarely turnover, thus inventory remains tight. Most of the homes haven’t been updated so buyers can expect remodeling costs. Lot sizes are usually .20-.30 acres with views and mature trees. Adjacent subdivisions (although collectively referred to as Onion Creek) are mostly master-planned communities and have a lower price point averaging in the $200s. In the last decade, this area has seen terrible flooding but in March 2017 the city approved the rezoning of 700 acres to be used as public parkland for the Onion Creek Metropolitan Park and Onion Creek Greenbelt which is twice the size of Zilker Park. The Onion Creek Country Club and Southpark Meadows Shopping Center provide locals a variety of amenities and activities. The Airport, McKinney State Park and Downtown are within a 10-mile commute.
