Filling out a loan application is the first step to buying a property. When you speak to a lender you’ll learn the price range you qualify for, how much cash you need for the down payment and what your mortgage payments will be. I can’t stress enough the importance of working with a good lender. A listing agent takes into consideration the lender’s capabilities to close the deal just as much as the terms of an offer. Because the lender is a crucial piece to a successful transaction, their experience can mean the difference between winning and losing the deal. Surrounding yourself with a reputable team is invaluable when navigating the real estate world- so choose your Realtor and lender carefully.

I recommend speaking with at least 2 different lenders to see which one you like best. Then fill out the loan application for one of those lenders. I highly recommend that you commit to one lender before submitting an offer on a home. A serious property search shouldn’t begin until the loan application is complete and you’ve received a pre-approval letter and a loan estimate.
